Ardbeg Twenty Something 23yo
Distilled in 1994 and bottled in 2017, this 23rd is vague about it’s age on the label but is certainly not vague about its character.
Twenty Something has been double matured in ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks.
Official Tasting Notes:
Ardbeg Twenty Something is sweet wood smoke and vanilla cream mingle with sherry notes, burning pine cones and chocolate on the nose. Upon tasting, rich chocolate with vanilla pods, dried fruits and fennel. The long finish falls away with just a hint of spiciness.
Ardbeg distillery was founded in 1815 by John Macdougall. More recently in 1997 it was bought by the Glenmorangie Company. The distillery and its whisky have won many awards in the last few years. They have also sent whisky into space as part of an experiment in 2012. The release that followed this, Galileo, sold 60,000 bottles in just 48 hours. This year also saw the launch of Ardbeg Day.
