Description

The Macallan 18 year old Speyside single malt distilled in 1985 and laid down at The Macallan distillery, was exclusively matured for more than 18 years in sherry wood casks from Jerez, Spain, before being bottled for the UK market in 2003.

The older iconic 18 year old, and earlier, offerings from The Macallan always continue to see a high demand and consistent rise in popularity, and this one is no exception. Prices rise year on year making this a great whisky for any collector and as an investment.

Bottled at 43% abv.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Mahogany

Nose: Lovely honey-covered dried fruits. There are traces of prunes and dates, with spiced molasses and demerara. A little pipe tobacco rounds it off.

Palate: Oily and creamy. More dried fruits and even some stewed plums. Toffee and sherry with cloves and cinnamon before going back to the tobacco.

Finish: Medium-long with a warm fruitiness.
