A bottle of Talisker 10 Year Old, the island representative in Diageo’s Classic Malts range. We estimate this was bottled in the early 2000s.
Talisker was founded in 1830 by Hugh MacAskill and is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye. The Scottish poet Robert Louis Stevenson described it as ‘the king o’ drinks’, and it is known for its powerful peat smoke and maritime character.
Bottled at 45.8% abv.
Nose: Fresh and fragrant with thick pungent smoke and sweet pear. Sea salt and smoked kippers and kelp come in towards the end.
Palate: Peat crackling and black pepper with a touch of brined barley and orchard fruit.
Finish: Long finish with toasted malt and crystal sugar
