Description

A great looking litre bottle of Lagavulin 16 year old, bottled in the day before the Diageo takeover when the label still carried the name of White Horse Distillers, one of the branches of the Distillers Company that were included in the buyout. White Horse is considered by many to be superior to all of its modern contemporaries.

This was bottled in the 1980’s

This is part of a private collection, more photos available on request.

Bottled at 43% abv

Tasting Notes

Colour: Light amber

Nose: Peat bog followed by lovely fruit pie and salted dark chocolate. A migration to sticky toffee pudding and Nutella.

Palate: Sweet meets spicy in a pine forest. Honey and caramel with hints of coffee, tobacco and cured ham.

Finish: Sweet fruit, grilled meat, marzipan, and peated pine.
