Description
For 20 years William Grant nurtured a dream to make the ‘best dram in the valley’. With the help of his family, he finally achieved that vision.
In the summer of 1886, with his seven sons and two daughters by his side, William set out to fulfil a lifelong ambition. Together they began building his Distillery by hand, stone by stone. After a single year of work it was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, Gaelic for Valley of the Deer. Glenfiddich has since gone on to win more awards than any other distillery.
This is claimed to be the first single malt scotch to use the Solera method of blending and aging.
Bottled at 40% abv
Tasting Notes
Colour: Rich golden amber
Nose: Sherry dominates, despite being only one of the three casks used. Salted nuts pair with honey-glazed raisins and bitter dark chocolate
Palate: Dried fruits, raisins, figs, apricots, orange give way to chocolate and baking spices.
Finish: The sherry returns with salted almonds again, but this time they are joined by ginger candy.
