BALLINDALLOCH DISTILLERY 2015 Ex-Oloroso Barrel (648 btls) 61.1% abv 700ml

A single cask of Ballindalloch bottled exclusively for the UK. This Oloroso sherry butt was bottled in 2024 after 8 years maturation. Ballindalloch’s small distillery uses their own estate-grown barley and also utilises worm tub condensers in distillation. Sherry casks and worm tub spirit are famously compatible with many Speyside distilleries achieving winning results, so it’s exciting to see a new distillery release in this category. We found notes of figs, dates and dark chocolate alongside a dry nutty character. There are only 648 bottles from this Sherry Butt, making a rare bottle.

Nose – Antique furniture, figs, dates and a touch of menthol. Syrupy berries,

Taste – Dry spice then redcurrants. After a while the robust spirit shows bran and cocoa carefully not dominated by the Oloroso cask.

Finish – Long nutty dark chocolate, then Turkish delight and berries and jaffa cakes.
